My bro got an Acadia too, but it has an issue recently. So, his check engine, ABS, and reduced power lights are all cleared for about nine days after a battery replacement, and ofc he thought it was good to go. Then, after a 3hour trip, they all came back on.

Before that trip, he put on a new oil filter without changing the oil (I laughed at him bcs, you know, it's a bad move, but the car made it, though with some highway slips.

Not just that, he said that the axles, gearbox, and differentials haven't been serviced in 10 years!

he's not good with cars, now he's planning to replace the air intake valves and hoses, then drain and refill the differentials ( he has put in fresh engine oil)

I want to hear what you guys car gurus think about this, can this solve the car's ongoing problems?

Ignoring axle, gearbox, and differential service for 10 years is really asking for trouble. Air intake valves and hoses might help if they're clogged, but that's just patchwork and honestly, your bro needs a full service, flush all fluids, check sensors, and get a proper diagnostic.

Changing just the oil filter without the oil isn't great, and skipping axle and diff service for 10 years is really, really bad as @Samuella.Jones here is saying. Replacing intake parts and fresh fluids is a start, but honestly, he should get a full diagnostic to catch any hidden issues before spending a bit more.

He must really hate his arcadia.

Replacing the filter without the oil means he got the filter out, some oil poured down and he put in the new filter, so I'm going to assume the oil level isn't optimal
